12. The sad case of Amanda Bynes: Why we should be kinder to child stars

Prachi Gupta, Assistant News editor for Salon, starts her article with an indecent that happened to her while at a bar with some friends. A lady passing behind their table accidentally fell. Without having been injured, the lady very embarrassed stands up accompanied by two men helping her. Gupta concludes that the best he can do is turn around and let the lady continue her night, so she will not feel even more embarrassed. This is the message that Amanda Bynes, who has been recently abused by the media for her "erratic and belligerent behavior", is trying to transmit for the public. Bynes twitter shows the world how her mental state is. This past week she posted a tweet saying that he had a difficult childhood, since she was sexually abused by her father. A few hours later she deleted the post and said that it was not true. It was all due to the microship she had installed in her brain. It is impossible to know if Bynes tells the truth, but it is clear that she needs medical help. The media unfortunately is not helping her in this situation. Since she was twenty, Bynes already showed a troubled behavior. This was her transition from a teenager to adulthood. Just like many other starts like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Miley Cyrus, and Britney Spears who at age sixteen was already a sex symbol. By revealing and commenting on everything those young starts did, the media helped turn a troubled person into a even more troubled person. They become a target to the media, and it is probably time for those young stars to be respected.
In this essay Prachi Gupta takes a controversial stand on celebrity privacy. She uses informal language and clear sentences, which are easy to understand. She goes against the media and states that even though those young celebrity transitions are scandalous, they should not be expose the way there are now. This is only promoting the behavior.
