13. Why People Love Costco-Sized Portions

This article gives us reasons of why Costco is so successful and why so many people buy so much in these places. They already start by saying that it is not only because of the "good deal" that they are so successful. Costco is popular for selling everything in large amounts and with cheaper prices. The place only sells products in bundles and the option of buying individual goods is not available. The author makes a point that Costco is successful not only because of the good deal, but because of the large bundles they sell everything in. The author gives evidence for why big bundles result in more selling of products. He says that consumers seek out more variety when a store sells products individually, verses in bulk. When consumers buy products, they end up buying more when buying in large quantities than if the products were sold individually. He gives evidence of a research that shows how people tend to buy in variety when buying individual products but people still tend to purchase more in big bundles of the same variety, sometimes buying large bundles of different brands for the sake of variety.
The author is successful in telling us what he means when he says that Costco is successful not only because of the good prices. However, it is confusing when the author starts to explain his point with evidence and explanation. What he wants to say is not clear to the reader so the article becomes confusing and unappealing. It seems like the author repeats a lot of what he says in the article and the essay seems to move slowly. I was able to understand what he meant to say (after reading it several times), however, I feel like the article could be better developed... I dont know much but that's what I felt.
