13. How YouTube's Biggest Star Got His Start

Felix Kjellberg, better know as "Pewdiepie" has the biggest and fastest growing channel on YouTube. As an entertainer, he posts videos of himself playing video games along with humorous commentary for his viewers. By doing this, he got himself a world record of 30 million subscribers back in September (31.5m as of today). Due to his gameplays, sale of certain games have drastically increased which he himself describes as "scary." Born in Gothenburg, Sweeden, he dropped out of college to focus on his YouTube career. He was born into a humble family and now has a channel revenue that ranges between $140,000 to $1.4 million a month, according to The Atlantic. In his videos, Kjellberg jokes, swears, shrieks, and giggles while referring to his viewers as "Bros." He also ends every video with a fist-bump which he named "Bro-fist." Recently, he demonstrated that he is "not afraid to be candid with his audience." This is because he recently turned off comments for all his videos explaining that he was tired of seeing spam and self-advertisement throughout the section. He did however bring it back the following month as the started a new walkthrough of a game. Pewdiepie is to his project and his main goal is to "entertain, which is his main objective before everything."
Zoe Henry, author of this article, writes about how Pewdiepie became YouTube's biggest star. She gives detailed description of what he does, how he does it, his main goals, and recent events in which he was involved in. However, the title she used was a bit deceiving as she doesn't talk a lot about how his channel actually began. Although Henry failed at that, she was concise and had a pretty good essay about Pewdiepie. She used several quotes well known sources and even Kjellberg himself which gives her writing some good credibility. However, she could have added one of Pewdiepie's videos to give an example of what he does to those who read the article.
