15. A Hidden Camera Reveals How Women Are Constantly Harassed on the Street

This article is about how street harassment is still an issue today. She talks about how men claim they rarely see a woman being harassed. The author points out that when a woman is walking down the street next to a man, they don't make a noise. To show to the world how women are harassed, an anti-harassment organization called Hollaback teamed up with a video marketing agency to show what it's really like to walk down the street alone as a woman. The results were a shocking, exhausting and terrifying video. Rob Bliss followed the actress Shoshana Roberts for ten hours across New York and recorded men's looks and comments. Some of them were friendly greetings, while others comments on her body. When she said anything about it, they would tell her that she should appreciate the fact that there were men 'asknowleding her beauty. Robert Bliss was able to record more than 100 instances of verbal harassment, and that doesn't count the whistles and the blinks. When the author showed it to her male colleagues, they were shocked by the treatment women received on the streets, since they had no idea these things happened so often. Other men on social media did not see such a problem with this video and claimed that catcalling isn't harassment, and that women are rude for not accepting these 'compliments' graciously.
The author of this article, Amanda Hess, wanted to talk about the importance of this video and how women everyday are being harassed by men on the streets. She explains the video and how important it is that men understand how big of an issue this is. She uses quotes from her male colleagues to prove her point on how clueless men are and to back up her argument. She has a completely biased opinion on the video and argues that the men who don't see a problem with this harassment have problems. She keeps the article short, simple and light; easy for all audiences to understand. She was able to successfully talk about the importance of the video and defend her point of why it is a problem and why men have no clue about it.
