#4 "CrossFit Flirting: Talk Burpee to Me"

CrossFit is a “high-intensity strength and conditioning program” which is very popular. Located in five different gyms in New York, this program is not only known for its rigorous program, but also for creating a fraternity-like community between the members. Despite the great but also rigid routine, the CrossFit program is considered a good way to find a date. Because of its large amount and wide variety of people, mainly single, the members of the program tend to look out for a potential date. Hard and exercises that require a partner are ways in which the members can approach each other in casual ways. Also, camps, parties, and events are planned for these groups to socialize while also being healthy. The people who attend this program tend to have similar preferences and likes, which also influences the idea of finding a date. CrossFit is not just a group that exercises together, but a team or a family that gives a chance to improve your health and even find a date.

The author of this article, Courtney Rubin, has written the article in a very light and easy-to-understand way. Her tone is very casual, interested, neutral, maybe even a little bit recommending. She uses simple vocabulary and sentence structures that are easy to comprehend. Rubin adds a lot of personal quotes from the members of the program to describe the program instead of adding her own description. The quotes in the text make the article more interesting and approachable to the readers. Overall, the author definitely thinks CrossFit is a different yet good way to not only improve and strengthen one’s health, but also to make new friends and even find a potential date.
