In this film review, Christopher Orr; a
senior editor and principal film critic at the
Atlantic, explains the major flaws and sheer stupidity of the latest Luc
Besson movie, Lucy. Orr warns the
reader that if they are considering watching Lucy that he highly recommends that the reader reconsider watching
and to stop reading the article because it does spoil the movie. Luc Besson was
never really known for making great movies but Lucy, was possibly his worst movie yet. The whole rest of the
article is dedicated to listing off the major flaws in the movie, because Lucy is “a film so idiotic that the only way to properly convey its flaws
is to enumerate them.”
Christopher Orr expresses his
disapproval of the movie by listing the major flaws and by expressing the
bewilderment that the audience faced . Most of the article is dedicated to
summarizing and enumerating the flaws, but for the first part of his film review,
Orr informatively states about the movie; its cast and director. For the most
part he simply states what happened in the movie in a chronological order,
because the reader does not need further persuasion to why that scene is poorly
written and poorly executed on film. He writes as if he were annotating an essay by
pointing out what could have been done better but with hints of disapproval in
every paragraph. Orr states what is wrong with the film seen as a movie
and what’s wrong with its contents scientifically. He explains the symbolic points of the movie, such as the humanity of the main character, but still in a
disapproving ‘it could have been done better’ attitude. At the end of the
article, he reveals to the reader, what is possibly the weirdest and most awful
ending to a Hollywood film and uses sarcasm to express the irrational, laughable, absurd message of the movie.
