8. "College is a Ludicrous Waste of Money"

College is considered an essential step all students should take. However, considering its increasingly expensive price, going to college seems like a downfall rather than an acclivity to one's success. Most students have the common assumption that a college degree is the only gateway to the American middle class. However, many times, many college graduates do not find good jobs. Rather, they must settle for jobs that don't require four years of college. Therefore, an uncommon alternative is considered whether a four-year college curriculum is really mandatory. Considering the tremendous amount of money paid to study in colleges, is it really beneficial and worthwhile going to college or is college just a waste of money? Such questions has gotten people to reconsider the idealized need of going to college.
The author of this article, Robert Reich, was very effective and persuasive in his article. Throughout the article, Reich is mostly straightforward and so uses short, straight words to convey his message. He uses many rhetorical and hypothetical examples in his writing which was very effective as it got the reader to think and engage more with the article. Reich is very persuasive by giving good arguments with good evidences as well as personal experiences. The article in general was very interesting and ,with its controversial subject, got the reader to really think about Reich's argument.
