8. Single, Christian, and a Child of Divorce

In this article, Lindsay Swartz talks about how the relationship with God is being tainted and affected because of divorce. Parents divorcing have a strong impact on the children. Either the child becomes someone who fantasises about having a perfect family or the child becomes someone who is scared of being in a relationship. However, then, Swartz starts to argue how people should help each other. She quotes Lore Ferguson, who talks about how people with families should invite single people to their home because many times single people don't see marriage as a good thing, they have never seen healthy marriages. That, by inviting them to their house, people will be able to share the feeling of having a family. Singles tend to think that they have to do everything right, but doing things right doesn't mean that everything will go well. People have to remember that God will be there for those who need help. God is in control and his Word can do so many things. When Swartz is in need for God to help with her family relationship, she often thinks about Paul's words in Acts 17:26-27. Surely, there may be many problems, but no matter what kind of background people come from, the church will help the single to have a healthy marriage.

Lindsay Swartz does a good job explaining that no matter what happens, God will help you fix the problem. She talks about the problem, divorce, and explains how it affects children, destroy relationship with God. She talks about the statistics of how many families are divorced, to emphasise the fact that many children grow up having high chances of having a bad relationship with God. Then, she talks about how the church should do something to help these people. She also quotes people which help have different opinion about the problem. She also mentions a few verses from the Bible that helps support her viewpoint. All leading up to the fact that marriage is good if you have a healthy marriage. People shouldn't be scared and continue single, they should get God's help and find someone fit for them.
