#8 Single, Christian, and a Child of Divorce

Divorce has increased during the years. About a million of the children watch their parents get divorced per year, and many of them get traumatized about marriage because of their past experience with their parents. The author gives a specific example about her friend and herself. Both of them were in a family where their parents got divorced and both of them were going through divorce. She explained how different views they had before getting married. How her friend was traumatized and was scared about getting married and how she fantasized about a perfect marriage. But the sad truth is that, not everyone will have their fairy tale with a happy ending. A lot of women that are suffering from divorce think that they don’t belong to any family anymore, and according to the author, the church has to embrace these women and show that they have a second family. She also states that a divorced family can also be a healthy family in a different way.

The author used mostly informal language during this article to connect to the readers. Since she is sharing her own experience, she uses first-person, and the use of first person connects better with the readers. She also uses easier vocabularies for the readers to concentrate more on the message that she wants to send rather than the hard vocabularies that she writes.  She uses a tone that is embracing those women that are going through same difficulties as her.
