8. Sugar, Spice and Guts

The roles of females in movies have been changing for the better and the change started with Jennifer Lawrence playing the role of Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger games trilogy. In movies from 2006-2009, around 70% of the characters were male. However lately leading roles played my women have become more frequent. The women in movies are no longer waiting for someone to save them, they are doing it for themselves and saving their worlds too. The rest of the article is split into six different kinds of roles that have changed the view of women in movies. The sections are: The Warriors, The New Searchers, Scream Teens, Once Upon a Time Right Now, Girls Gone Wild, and Love and Death.

The authors of the article sometimes use difficult language when explaining the characteristics of the roles. They do a very good job of separating the different kinds of roles into different categories. In each of the categories they give many examples of movies and how the roles of women are different. They also add pictures to go along with each category. The article makes you want to watch the movies the authors use in the examples. The authors use very descriptive language in their examples. Overall it was a very interesting article to read.
