9. Can the Apple Watch Woo Traditional Watch Fans?

When talking about "The Watch" nowadays, everyone knows it is referring to the new Apple Watch. It will start being sold next year for $349. It is most certainly that geeks will want it, for the technologically trend it offers. Teenagers who do not even know what a wristwatch is, will probably surrender to "connected" screen of the Apple Watch. However, those people are not the ones that Apple needs to win over. They need to win over the people with a sense of style. Those people who proudly consume Rolex, Bulgari, and Hermès. One of the main problems with the watch, is that it can be too masculine. As Roseanne Morrison, fashion director for the Doneger Group, points out, “It’s not pretty." “It’s very future techno as opposed to feminine sexy.” Eric Wilson, who is fashion news director at InStyle Magazine, said it was “masculine.” However, many did say they would replace their current time piece with the new device. Thus, it will not be the style that will allure many, it will be the features it offers. Just like many smart phones that men put in their pockets and that many women carry around in their purse. The success of this watch will probably what it has to offer, even if it is masculine.
In this article by Nick Bilton for The New York Times, he gives a new fashion idea to the Apple Watch. Most certainly this new release is going to allure many, but Bilton points out the other side of the coin. He uses a more informative selection and a passive, lightweight tone. The main idea of the article would be for the reader to decide what they think the Apple Watch will cause on the industry, in this case fashion.
